BULLSEYE

Turnbull Clan Web Site

The Clan Web Site www.turnbullclan.com has undergone several changes in the month of May, some of you may have noticed the site for the last several months has been experiencing slowdowns and outages. This was because our provider, FeaturePrice, out of Florida has gone out of business. We have now moved to a new provider, HostedToday with servers located in New Jersey and service and support in Nova Scotia. Our experience with the new provider has been excellent to date.

Moving to the new site has been a lot of work, but for the most part we have maintained the site up and running. Moving has also provided us with an opportunity to add some new features like the Clan Forums. Here you can exchange ideas and seek information from visitors to our site. Initially I have established two forums, one GENERAL for all things Turnbull, and a second for GENEALOGY, where we can leave messages in search of our roots.

Recently we added a Genealogy section for our members only. It currently contains about 1300 names, however we are expecting a major input of new information from Jim Turnbull in Australia and volunteers are currently keying in more data from Clan records. So please check back often to see if some of the new family trees are of interest to you.

The season for Highland Games has started, the first with a Hosted Turnbull Clan Tent is The Tri-Cities Games in Kennewick, Washington. Bill Trimble, host, sent us an interesting article on the “Gathering of Scots” available in this issue and in colour on the web site.

To those of you who have visited our Clan Web site, first started by Corey Turnbull, then later supported by Andy Turnbull, your comments and support are gratefully acknowledged. The site as we know it today could not be possible without the pioneering efforts of Corey and the major contribution of Wally Turnbull in preparing the old issues of BULLSEYE for the net. I took over in 2002  and with the help of my friend and technical guru Claude Préfontaine feel we have moved forward. I see myself as a facilitator and for the web site to continue to grow we need content. So please send us your ideas or better yet send us articles of interest to Turnbulls worldwide.
