Enumclaw, WA provided
a beautiful backdrop for this year’s annual general meeting. With Mount
Rainer looming just beyond the fairgrounds and perfect weather, the
setting couldn’t have been better.
The weekend began with
an informal dinner with hosts Bill and Pat Trimble and family members on
Friday night. Dinner was adjourned to the King County Fairgrounds to
the opening ceremonies and lighting of torches of the Pacific Northwest
Highland Games. This was followed by a wonderful sing along of Scottish
favorites led by the renowned performer Colin Grant-Adams.
Saturday morning TCA members gathered at the Turnbull tent for scones
and coffee. Being in the Pacific NW, finding a good cup of coffee,
espresso or latte was only a few feet away. TCA members made a noble
appearance in the Parade of Clans, kicking off the official “Let the
games begin” ceremony. The Turnbull Tent was nicely located near the
Wicked Tinkers Band, where everyone could enjoy the performances
throughout the day. Several Turnbulls and Trimbles passed by to get a
glimpse of their extended families.

Saturday night was a
highlight with a Turnbull Clan dinner following the annual meeting.
President Wally Turnbull was present to review the past year and present
thoughts on the future. It was reported that the Bullpen, initiated in
2004, has met with great success with members from 5 countries and 3
continents. The Bullpen includes individuals from Australia, New
Zealand, Scotland, Canada and the USA. |
