2005 AGM To Be Held At Pacific NW Games

Mark your calendars!  Bill and Pat Trimble are rolling out the red carpet for the 2005 Annual General Meeting of TCA.  This year’s meeting will take place at the 59th Pacific Northwest Scottish Highland Games in Enumclaw, Washington, July 29-31.

Bill and Pat Trimble, right, seen here at the 2004 AGM in New Hampshire.

TCA will help lead off the Parade of Clans, so help us make this an unforgettable time.  Pat and Bill will have a beautiful Turnbull Clan tent and are ready to welcome everyone to this beautiful area of the country.

The games will prove to be full of fun.  The competitive activities will include Highland Dancing, Piping and Drumming, Pipe Bands, and other Scottish athletic events.  You’ll enjoy watching those who toss the caber or put the stone.

Celtic folk singer, Colin Grant-Adams, originally from Edinburgh, Scotland will perform.  He has performed on concert stages throughout the world, including Carnegie Hall.  The Seattle Knights will be present and have won awards in almost  every parade they have entered.     Other  performers  include  Tempest,  Men  of  Worth, and The Browne Sisters and George Cavanaugh.

There will be plenty of opportunities to sample a wide variety of traditional foods.  The Hall of Vendors will be present with their Scottish wares and tartan clothing.  And you won’t want to miss the Scottish Farm with the Shaggy Scotch Highland, Ayrshire and Galloway cattle, Clydesdale

horses, and black faced sheep.  Celtic dog breeds may be seen in play and work.

Plan now to come join in on all the activities and fun.  Pat and Bill suggest you come and stay a few extra days so you can visit nearby attractions.  There is much to be seen including, Mt. Rainier National Park, Mt. St. Helens, Blake Island (Puget Sound, west of Seattle), and don’t forget Seattle, itself with the Space Needle and world famous Pike’s Place Market where you can see “flying fish!”  Tacoma is home to the Gilhooley Glass Museum and the Tacoma Narrows Bridge (also known as Galloping Gerdie).  Northwest Trek Game Preserve is only 15 miles from Puyallup and is home to an abundance of North American animals in a natural habitat.

Pat and Bill have reserved rooms at very special rates for TCA members at two of the area hotels in Puyallup.

Remember, when you call to make your reservations, ask for the Turnbull Clan special rate.  We will also be hosting the annual TCA AGM dinner at the Park Plaza on Saturday night, right after the meeting.

A wee bit of humor Sandy was drinking at a pub all night. When he got up to leave, he fell flat on his face. He tried to stand again, but to no avail, falling flat on his face. He decided to crawl outside and get some fresh air to see whether that would sober him up. Once outside, he stood up and, sure enough, fell flat on his face. So, being a practical fellow, he crawled all the way home.

When he got to the door, he stood up yet again, but fell flat on his face. He crawled through the door into his bedroom. When he reached his bed, he tried once more to stand upright. This time he managed to pull himself to his feet but fell into bed. He was sound asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.

He woke the next morning to his wife shaking him and shouting, "So, you've been out drinking again!" "Why would ye say that?" he complained innocently. "Because the pub called and you left your wheelchair there again!"
