Immigration	Alexander Ryrie, III, immigrated on 4 September 1841 to Australia. on the "WILLIAM NICHOLL", which sailed from LEITH on 4 SEP 1841 and arrived in PORT PHILLIP on 9 FEB 1842. The ship's papers describe ALEXANDER as an unmarried farm servant, a protestant and able to read and write.²
Anecdote (fam)	. ELIZABETH and ALEXANDER were pioneers in the district and were held in very high esteem by the community, ELIZABETH was a founding member of the local RED CROSS and although nearly blind she knitted no less than 725 pairs of socks for soldiers in the front line in the First World War (1914-1918).²
