I wrote this on the night of Nana's death. Nana died on the afternoon of 16/11/1992 after a short illness. Cancer of the liver or kidneys. We went and said goodbye at Cooroy Hospital on 15/11/1992. I feel sad that I did not get a chance to take a family photo ofthe four generations of girls.Nana,Mum,Me and Rebecca. I feel that this thought is selfish but it is what I feel. I was going to ask Nana at christmas if she would mind the photo being taken. She did not like photos being taken of her.She will probably be buried on either Wednesday or Thursday at Tewantin. Rebecca and I will go up for the funeral as I don't think John would be able to get time off.I will probably have to pick Russell up from his girlfriends house at Kallangur. Nana was cremated on the Wednesday. She had an Anuerysim of the Aorta earlier in the year. The primary cancer was floating in her body and touched down on the Kidney. It then moved on to the Bladder and then on to the Liver where it left 20 spots. Two weeks to the day of confirming the cancer Nana died. Nana was to have started chemotherapy but she got depressed in the P.A. Hospital so it was decided to move her back to Cooroy Hosp.. When she died she looked like a 90 year old not like 68.Aunty June got to place Nana's wedding band on Nana's hand in the coffin. She had some pearl earings placed in her ears to be cremated. All of the family (Nana's children, Vicki and I) put a rose on Nana's coffin before the service. |
