Anecdote | ALEXANDER NOBLE TURNBULL was born in Monticello, Florida on March 15,. 1871. He was the second son of Samuel I'urnbull, and could· not settle on anyone vocation. He was hard hit in two depressions, seems that· his most successful vocation was farming. On June 24, 1901 he married Christina Oakley in Monticello, Florida. In November of 1908 they with their then three children moved to Prescott, Arizona where Alex entered the general merchantile business wth a partner named Thomas Bottoms. Arizona was then a Territory. In 1911 the family became homesick for Florida, liquidated the business, and with the fourth child, returned to live on a plantation .. six miles east of Monticello, Florida called Silver Lake Plantation, named. after a large lake bordering the southeast corner of the plantation. In 1915 the family, with two additional children making a total of six, moved into town where Alexander called Monticello, Florida his home until he died in 1933. |

After their divorce, Catharine as well as the three children adopted Catharines original surname; Turnbull. Catharine has spent most of her life in Monticello and Tallahassee, Florida. She presently lives in Tallahassee. The three children; James P. born April 16, 1932; married to Margaret Lawhorn. They have nine children. Mary Christina, born July 29, 1934; was married to William Melvin Mauldin who died earlier this year (1993), to their marriage there were four children. Alice Turnbull Daniel, was changed by court order in Circuit Court, Leon County, Tallahassee, Florida on March 7, 1941 to Alice Turnbull, with no middle name, after her parents' divorce was finalized in 1939. Growing up she was told that her middle name was Callegari (for Alice Marie Callegari Turnbull). Alice, born January 10, 1937; is married to Reverend Charlie Fuller McNutt, An Episcopal Bishop with his Diocese Headquarters in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. They have three children.23 |
