Mr. Trumble was one of the hardy pioneers who did so much to blaze the trail for the development of the great west, having crossed the plains to CA in 1849, where he was quite successful as a gold miner of the early days. He returned east and was married in 1856, after which he again came west and settled in WA, where he resided since about 1879. For 12 years he lived on his homestead in Lord’s Valley and for several years has resided in Sprague. Deceased was 81 years old. Among others who mourn his loss, he leaves a wife and three children. The subject of this sketch was born in Ohio, May 16, 1837, and died at Sprague, WA, Jan 5, 1910. She was united in marriage Feb 18, 1856 and with her husband moved to CA. In 1888 they came to WA and resided for 20 years at or near Harrington. She moved to Sprague several years ago, where in 1905 her husband died. When a young woman she united with the Baptist church. Of recent years she made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Ingles of Lamont. Mrs. Trumble is survived by brothers and sisters who reside in IN, and 2 daughters and one son in WA. The funeral services were conducted at the Baptist church and the remains laid to rest in the Harrington Cemetery. (Citizen-14 Jan 1910)1 |
