The Turnbulls of Bay View and Digby, Nova Scotia. In researching for this historical sketch, the parchoial registers of Bedrule, Roxburghshire, Scotland, which date from 1690, were examined. From 1690 to 1708, the only Turnbull birth recorded, was that of William, son of William of Newton. he was baptized 13th January 1706. It is possible that this was a brother of the George Turnbull mentioned below.
The earliest ancestor of the Digby Turnbulls, so far discovered from whom a definite line of descent can be proved, was George Turnbull, a cooper in Newton. His marriage and records of his descendants are hereby documented.
