AnecdoteOliver took title to Lot 10 Con. 15 from his Father and Mother in 1884. His parents continued to live with he and Clara until their death. In 1905 Oliver purchased the W 1/2 Lot 11 and in 1916 the E 1/2. In 1917 he sold Lot 11 to his son Wilbur. And in 1944 he sold Lot 10 to his Grandson William J. Turnbull.
Oliver took a keen interest in progressive farming and developed the Meadowbrook strain of purebred Shorthorn Cattle and showed cattle at the London Fair, Guelph Winter Fair and the Royal Winter Fair Toronto. He also judged beef Cattle at Fall Fairs in Ontario for a number of years.

AnecdoteJim attended Brussels Continuation School and graduated from the Ontario Agricultural College with B.S.A. degree in 1934. He worked for the Dominion Livestock Branch until 1956 when he transferred to the Canadian Farm Loan Board which later became the Farm Credit Corporation. This was a Crown Company which made loans to farmers on security of a first mortage on their farm. He returned in 1971.
