| Note | Gladys Ellen Turnbull. The Turnbull’s lived in Durham Country … a family of 20, but there were several twins who died. Barbara being the youngest of the surviving children. Perhaps Ball was the maiden name of the woman who married into the Wise family. i.e. your Fathers’s Mum and Gladys Mother-in-law? There were two lots of Turnbull twins. One lot died shortly after birth. The story I was given was whilst one of the twin was being buried the other one died I didn't know there was other twins 16 Turnbulls survived yes indeed Barbara was the last child her mom died when she was 14 Barbara then took care of her dad and my mom would help with shoes and clothes that is why they were so close to each other until my mom passed away as you might know mom died of lung cancer. Mum's middle name was Ellen. She told me about her grandma having diabetes and also losing a leg because of it. Mom was born in one of her Aunts homes in South Moor Stanley County Durham I took Auntie Barbara for a drive out and about and she showed me the street but didn't say which of her sisters called it home Author unknown |
