The following information was written as a short family history (of the Empie, Trumble, Reese families) by Walter John Trumble (or maybe John Walter Trumble - same person?? - as he states in this document that Mary Reese is his mother   {NOTE:  This is the only Walter John Trumble I can find as of 10-19-2014.  His father, William Ansley Trumble, was the son of Lewis Walter Trumble and Elizabeth Empie Trumble.  If this is the case, Mary Reese (identified below as his mother) would have been Walter's aunt by marriage (she married James who was the brother of Wm. Ansley):
- My great, great grandfather Philip Empie was born in 1744.
- My great, great grandmother, Elizabeth (his wife), was born in 1763. (Notation per scf:  This GG Grandmother would have been  Elizabeth Enslin Empie)
- One child, Jacob Empie, was born to them June 30, 1788.
- Jacob Empie married Hannah Estes in 1807.
- Nine children were born to them, one of whom was Elizabeth (Empie)
- Elizabeth married Lewis Walter Trumble in 1832.
- This family was raised in Montgomery County, New York near Lake Ontario, New York. My grandmother, Elizabeth Empie (Trumble), and Lewis Walter were married there and came to Michigan somewhere about 1850 or perhaps a little later.
- This family too consisted of 9 children some of whom died while very young.
- My father, James Walter Trumble, was the 3rd oldest in this family of 9.  My mother’s maiden name was Mary Reese. (The only child by the name of John born to James Trumble and Mary Reese Trumble was John (the father of John Wm. Trumble) - and he was born in 1864 - the same year as Walter John Trumble.  These (2) John L. and Walter John would have been first cousins (their fathers James Walter and William Ansley were brothers - Mary Reese would have been the paternal grandmother.
- These good people were the parents of 7 children and I (Walter John Trumble) am one of them.
- We have been a strong, hardy race as far back as we have trace our history. They were sturdy, loyal, religious, pioneers who have good names on record.   They helped to build this great nation with their hard work, thrift, and strict adherence to the rules, laws and regulations of the State and country.   During the Revolutionary War, when the British were seizing everything of value, my Great, Great Grandfather's folks buried their bible in the ground. This dear old book, which was printed in Edenburough, Scotland, in 1731 is now in the possession of Walter John Trumble, St. Clair, Michigan (??? - person writing this piece) - who will hand it down to his grandson, John Calvin ("Witty Jack"), now 8 years of age living in Detroit, Michigan.   We are proud of our family down ???? on the Trumble of the house we claim relationship with the Governor of Conneticut ???? back as the Colon??? and to the famous painter John Trumble who painted the last painting of George Washington.
It would not be difficult matter to trace the family tree and its branches and if one can take the time to do so. Empie, Trumble, Reese, Jerome are all good true English American names well ??? to be written into the history of the U.S. Written by Walter John Trumble, Dec. 31, 1931 just 200 years after the printing of the old Bible.
