Harley Turnbull
Harley Frederick Turnbull, 77, died Wednesday at his home in Sagle, which is the original family farm where he was born. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19 in Coffelt’s Moon Chapel, with Chuck Wigton officiating.
Masonic graveside rites will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park with Lakeside Lodge.
42 AF&AM conducting the rites. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital. Friends may call at the Moon Chapel on Friday, from 7 – 8 p.m.
Turnbull was born July 16, 1908 in Sagle to Andie and Bertha Turnbull. He graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1928 and married Mary Lee Converse in Newport, Wash., on June 18, 1932. The couple celebrated 53 years of marriage last June.
Turnbull worked as a logger as well as working for the Idaho State Highway Department before retiring in 1971. He was active in various area baseball programs as a player, coach and umpire. He was a member of Lakeside Lodge 42, AF&AM, Panhandle Shrine Club and Martha Chapter 34, OES.
In 1976 he was honored as Shriner of the Year.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lee Turnbull, at Sagle; two sons, Richard in Anchorage, Alaska, and Les in Great Falls, Mont., a daughter, Judy Collett, Lewiston, and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Steve Turnbull, in 1986.
