Richard L. “Dick” Turnbull, 63, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998 in Anchorage, Alaska.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, 1998 at Coffelt’s Moon Chapel. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Richard was born on Oct. 13, 1934 in Sagle, Idaho, the son of Harley and Mary (Converse) Turnbull. He attended Sagle Elementary School and graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1953. After high school he attended the University of Idaho, graduating with a B. S. degree in Civil Engineering in 1958.
Richard began his career at the Federal Aviation Administration with summer employment in 1956 and 1957 in Fairbanks, Alaska. After graduation he
continued working for the FA in the eleven western states. His work included the design and installation of airport and navigational facilities with assignments in Viet Nam, Thailand, Iran and Jordan. In 1976 he transferred to Anchorage, Alaska where he continued with similar projects throughot the state. He retired in Anchorage on April 30, 1994 completing a 36-plus year career.
Richard had traveled extensively with tours to Africa, India, Austrailia, Asia, Europe and Russia. In retirement he enjoyed salmon fishing in Alaska.
He is survived by a brother, Les Turnbull, Bigfork, Mont.; a sister, Judy Collett, Wilsonville, Or., two nieces, Teresa Espinoza and Lisa Meehan; two nephews, Michael Turnbull and Brett Collett.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a newphew.
