William Jackson Trimble was son of John Trimble (2/2/1779 d:5/1/1865) and Susannah Nuckolls. Susannah Nuckolls was daughter of Charles Nuckolls, and is buried with her husband John in the Trimble Cemetary, Galax, VA. John and Susannah had 7 boys and 6 girls most of whom went to Illinois or Indiana. John Trimble organzied a company of volunteers and went to Norfolk in the War of 1812. He acquired 1300 acres on Meadow Creek where he operated a grist mill and worked as a carpenter and mason. His father-in-law, Charles Nuckolls gave him several slaves whom he set free. John Trimble worked for James Toncry, contractor for the construction of the Court HOuse at Greenville (Old Town) as a carpenter and brickmason. Susannah , John's wife, came to view the work, and fell near the doorway with an apparent heart attack. She was carried across the street to teh Dickenson Ordinary where she died in a matter of hours on 8/30,1833. John lived, at the time of his death, with daughter Rachel Trimble (b1810) and her husband John Foster (b: 1821).
