| Anecdote | Harriet Turnbull must have been quite a lady of questionable character as she was married four times, and left her first husband Rev. Turnbull and (I think) five surviving children to elope to Tasmania with Frederick Wegg Horne who at the time was a bank clerk at the National Bank at Blackwood, Vic. Her youngest child Frederick, who died as a baby is buried at Blackwood and may have been the child of Frederick Wegg. I have photocopies (from Police Records) of Harriet, taken because apparently she left the home of Rev. Turnbull with some antimacassars and in those days all property belonged to the husband. Charges were later dropped. I also have copies of their divorce details. I know nothing of the dissolution of his marriage to Harriet, but he went on to become a Solicitor and married twice more. He died in N.S.W. Harriet later married a man named ? Mooney and then Burn, the name under which she is buried.5 |
